One important thing about stress management is knowing what your sources of stress are for you as an individual, not compare to other people because if you can own what your sources of stress are you can be more prepared for them, and you can know what the practice skills are to prepare for ways to handle them. There are varieties of different sources of stress and they are usually different from one individual to the other. We can have stress that are environmentally related. Like; weather, noise, pollution, clutter, news, etc. We can also be stressed as a result of pressure to respond quickly, fast paced society, eating of junk, lack of exercise and the need to achieve given targets, etc. Sometimes demand from work, school, family, Church, or community can be a source of stress. There are other situations like, accident, assignments, emergencies, money pressure, etc. all these can be sources of stress in our lives.

In this article I would like to discuss four ways to relieve stress in order to accomplish more in life. The truth is that we usually feel stressed if the goal we have to accomplish outweigh the resources available our disposal. However, the state of being stressed comes from your mind capacity hence living you with a little room for productivity. So here are four effective tips to help you cope with stress.

Stop Multi-Tasking

A study in phycology states that the Zeigarnik effect states that your brain tends to remember incomplete tasks more than the complete ones, accordingly, when you multi-task, your mind will keep hammering you about other task yet to be done at the same time. So, try to focus on the task at hand and try to ignore the outstanding ones. When one is finished, you can then start the other, one task at a time.

Physical Exercise

Without doubt, this is a very effective tip and it’s good for everyone. Exercise works to help your body systems, you would be surprised if you knew how exercise works to help relive and help your body systems work harmoniously and supply you with the required immunity after wards. No matter how crowded your work schedule is, find a way to incorporate exercise in.

Thinking Positively

This is another stress relieving strategy. Have you ever heard of neurolinguistics programming? It is actually a communication model that train your mind to think in the most productive manner. For example, if you have a lot of work to do, you will perceive this as an opportunity to challenge yourself and improve your time management skills.

Cut down Perfectionism

This is important especially if you are a type “A” personality it is easy to fall into the trap of perfectionism. In truth perfect does not exist, but type a person would like to be perfect in all that he does. This kind of person will constantly work relentlessly but never feel satisfied with the work done but always feel stressed about achieving perfection. Rather try to be a high achiever instead.
