Nor Any Drop to Drink: The World Water Crisis

Water.  The hot new commodity.  Selling like hotcakes.  We all need it.  It’s a sure thing.  For the highest bidder, it is a Blue Goldmine.  And for the rest of us?  We find ourselves in similar circumstances to that fabled Ancient Mariner of Coleridge’s lyrical ballad.  Surrounded by water, and yet we thirst.

Most Americans have yet to feel the full brunt of the water crisis.  The Southwest has been facing the dilemma of shortages, but it is NOTHING compared to what is coming.

“The world’s thirst for water is likely to become one of the most pressing resource issues of the 21st century…In some cases, water withdrawals are so high, relative to supply, that surface water supplies are literally shrinking and groundwater reserves are being depleted faster than they can be replenished by precipitation,”  according to World Resources, a publication of the United Nations Environment Program.

WRONG.  China is currently taking their fill of water from the Great Lakes to fill their aquifers.  Multi-national organizations are draining our supplies nationwide and worldwide in order to turn a profit.  Water has been privatized, and we the consumer will soon HAVE to pay for something that should be a human right.

Companies like Nestle are draining Lake Mead to sell the dirty water back to us.  T. Boone Pickens, heralded as an alternative energy juggernaut, is monopolizing underground water supplies, essentially drinking our proverbial milkshake.

What are we doing to ourselves?  What are we allowing to be done to the most precious resource that we have? And why is it that the precious little water that still flows from our taps is being chemically treated with poison?

There are some wonderful articles that discuss the manner in which what we’re currently adding to our water supply is harmful to human health.  One of the most compelling that I came upon was a journal written by http://www.hulakaihotel.com/online-dating-sites-free-for-men/.  A well respected dentist in New Zealand, and former advocate of fluoridation, Calquhoun now describes the research promoting fluoride to be flawed at best and criminal at worst.  Read more here:

WHY I CHANGED MY MIND ABOUT WATER FLUORIDATION

Dr. Paul Connett, Professor of Chemistry at St. Lawrence University in New York, gives a damning interview on the history of water fluoridation, the collusion of major industries to put certified toxic waste into your drinking water, and why government health authorities refuse to conduct scientific studies into the dangers of fluoridation. After watching this video, you will never look at tap water the same way again.

We live in a world where anything can be bought and sold.  And while we thirst for that precious, life-sustaining resource, governments thirst for more money, power, and control.  So desperate have they become to control our unquenchable NEED for water, that in many states it has become illegal to collect RAIN WATER on your own property.

Can you imagine what our grandparents would think? Many of whom grew up in rural areas or on farms where digging a well or collecting one’s own water was commonplace.

I predict that within the next few years, this crisis will reach a tipping point.  Massive restrictions, the likes of which we’ve never seen, will be put into place, and companies like Nestle will come in an attempt to save the day by SELLING us back the water that they stole.
