May 21, 2011: Countdown to Doomsday
Believe it or not, in some parts of the world, it is already May 21, 2011.
In New Zealand, the place where Harold Camping claims the rapture will most likely begin, it is currently just after 3:00 pm. According to the Campingites, doomsday starts at 6:00pm… wherever you are in the world. This means, most people in the world (sorry New Zealand) will get a heads up that the Rapture is coming. This also means that where I live, at the time of this posting in the Central Time Zone… Judgement is less than 20 hours away.
If you are one of the few people still not familiar with this dire prophecy and those behind its creation, you’ll want to read these:
In the past couple of days, Camping and his flock have been very emphatic that there will be great earthquakes around the world at 6:00 p.m. But, according to an interview with Harold on CNN’s https://www.prhelper.com/, Camping isn’t so sure:
Based on your study of the Bible, you have determined that May 21, 2011 is Judgment Day–that God will completely destroy the Earth. What do you predict will happen as clocks turn to 6 pm?
We cannot say emphatically that it’s 6 pm. There’s a lot of information that looks at the probability of 6 pm in any city in the world–when that great earthquake will occur. It could be that it might be just one great earthquake, but there is enough evidence in the Bible that says it will begin at one point in the world, and it could be at 6 pm—that’s a great possibility. Then as it gets to be May 21 in any other country—there will be a great earthquake there.
But we know absolutely, without any shadow of a doubt, that May 21 will be the day.
Now, I guess all we can do is sit back and wait. For those who are faithful Christians, and do not know what to think about tomorrow… I can think of no more clear evidence in the Bible to discourage you from holding your breath for 6:00 pm May 21.
(1) Now on the topic of times and seasons, brothers and sisters, you have no need for anything to be written to you. (2) For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come in the same way as a thief in the night. (3) Now when they are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will surely not escape. But you, brothers and sisters, are not in the darkness for the day to overtake you like a thief would. (1 Thess 5:1–4).
I don’t know about you, but I certainly would not consider us to be living in times of “peace and security”. That alone tells me that believers in Biblical teachings should recognize that this prediction is false.
But the Family Radio crowd will not be swayed.
As the countdown begins, some will wait anxiously to be taken up into the air, some will be frightened that they’ll not be saved… some will have parties, and some will look upon this entire ordeal with great sadness.
Perhaps the best thing we can do for those who will wake up on May 22 in a crisis of faith…. is pray for them.
