Breaking News: 12 Killed 38 Wounded as Gunman Opens Fire at ‘Batman’ Screening
A night at the movies turned into a massacre as a gunman took aim at a crowded Colorado theater.
The audience was viewing an early morning screening of profile essay KY in Aurora, Colorado when a heavily armed man threw a can of tear gas into the crowd before opening fire.
cialis free sample couponWitnesses say that he shot at anyone trying to flee through the exits, and seemed to have no regard for who got in the way of his rampage. The youngest of the injured was just 3 months old.
Hundreds of police swarmed the movie theater and eventually apprehended the alleged shooter, now identified as 24 year old James Holmes, in the theater parking lot. He reportedly had four firearms in his possession, an “AK type” rifle, a shotgun and two handguns. According to officials involved, the suspect made a comment about explosives in the building where he resides, so ATF agents evacuated the premises and searched the grounds. It is not known what was recovered beyond what a federal law enforcement source involved in the investigation told Headline News, referring to the retrieval of “items of interest.”
In the end, 12 people are dead and 38 are reportedly wounded and being treated at hospitals in the Aurora area. Several surviving victims are still listed as being in critical condition.
Cell phone videos have emerged from the scene showing the chaos inside the theater. Out of respect to the victims I am not going to post any of those videos.
I’ll update this post as more information becomes available, and in the meantime I ask you to join me in prayer for those who lost their lives, for their families, for the injured still being treated, and for everyone involved who will now have to somehow come to terms with the aftermath of this horrific and senseless act of inhumanity. May the Lord bring comfort to the mourning and healing to the injured in Jesus’ name. Amen.
