Astronaut Buzz Aldrin claims there is a monolith on Mars Moon
This is indeed some strange news. Apollo 11 Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who along with Neil Armstrong became one of the first two men to set foot on the Moon, has raised a few eyebrows again with some comments he made recently about Mars.
Aldrin has been busy promoting exploration of the Red Planet, and during an appearance on CSPAN’s Washington Journal he made the following statement:
We should go boldly where man has not gone before. Fly by the comets, visit asteroids, visit the moon of Mars. There’s a monolith there. A very unusual structure on this potato shaped object that goes around Mars once in seven hours. When people find out about that they’re going to say ‘who put that there? Who put that there?’ The universe put it there. If you choose, God put it there.”
Now, at first glance this doesn’t seem newsworthy. Really, a monolith can be a naturally created stone pillar. But the generally accepted definition of a monolith is that it is a man made mega structure. In fact, Webster’s Defines Monolith as follows:
1 : a single great stone often in the form of an obelisk or column 2 : a massive structure 3 : an organized whole that acts as a single unified powerful or influential force
So, what did he mean? In the context of his comment, he certainly does appear to imply that the monolith will cause people to wonder about its origin. And, Buzz has been at the center of controversy regarding statements he’s made before. In fact, he’s claimed to have seen a UFO during the Apollo 11 mission. I’ve included a video of his story here:
Aldrin isn’t the only astronaut who claims to have seen an unidentified flying object. Mercury 9 and Gemini 5 astronaut Gordon Cooper also claims to have witnessed such strange things.
These men have come closer to exploring the cosmos than any of us will ever dream of in our lifetimes. They have been there. This is their life’s work. I find those who would disregard their statements and testimony as mistakes or rubbish, to be incredibly arrogant. Who is more qualified to make a distinction about objects in space than an Astronaut?
At some point, I believe that we need to submit ourselves to the idea that maybe…maybe there is more strangeness and wonder in this amazing Universe of ours than we could possibly conceive of in our limited understanding of life and science. And those who say, “There’s a logical explanation for UFOs” are probably right. But in my mind, perhaps the logical explanation is that we are not alone.
Just for fun, here’s a video of Buzz Aldrin clocking Bart Sibrel, the man who claims we never went to the moon. Regardless of what you believe, if you approach someone, get in their face and call them a coward, a liar, and a thief…you deserve to get coldcocked.
