Early Wednesday morning, on December 12, 2012 (12-12-12), a Texas man called 911. When the dispatcher asked what was the emergency, the man replied, “I shed some innocent blood.”
In a matter of fact tone, the man went on to explain to the operator that he had inscribed a pentagram into the flesh of his 6 year old son. When asked by the operator why he had done such a thing, the man replied, “Because it is a high holy day.”
The date is 12-12-12. It happens only once a century, and for some it is a day with special occult significance.
The man accused of branding his son with the pentagram is Brent Troy Bartel. When officers arrived on the scene, they noticed blood was smeared on the front door. They noted that it appeared to have been placed there intentionally. Inside the home in this sleepy Fort Worth suburb, police found the young boy bleeding with a pentagram covering almost the entirety of his back.
Police rushed the boy to the hospital where it was determined that although there was a lot of blood, the cuts were not deep enough to require stitches. The pentagram was etched into the boy’s skin using a box cutter.
While the grisly incident was taking place, another 911 call came in, this time from a neighbor. She stated that there was a woman outside her door screaming for help. During the 911 recording, a voice can be heard crying, “He’s trying to hurt my 6-year-old” and “Please hurry! Oh, God!”
Brent Troy Bartel was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
