Weird Weather: ND snow in June

Well, it appears that my neck of the woods has made national news again. And the reason?? The weather, of course!
A few days ago, Mother Nature thought that the tough people of North Dakota just weren’t quite done with winter, and saw fit for us to receive one final (let’s hope!) dose of snow before we can finally enjoy the few brief months of summer that we all look forward to.
The Associated Press picked up the story in order to confirm to the rest of the country that we are, in fact, the least desirable State to vacation to in the summer time. Dickinson, ND received several inches of snow, and Williston had a few flurries as well.

I looked out my window on that very day and was quickly prompted to call my friends and wish them Happy Holidays. I didn’t see much more than a few flakes, but it was enough for me to reach for my Bunny Hug, and prepare for hibernation. Usually, the snow starts tapering off in March or April at the latest. Here’s a shot of downtown Fargo this March.

This is the first time it has snowed in Dickinson in June in over 60 years. I am not in Dickinson, but I feel their pain. No one wants to shovel snow in June!!
So, what’s the reason? Global Warming? HAARP? Punishment for being too awesome? What do you think?
