This Week’s Extraordinary Top Story

Chinese “Winged” Cat

article 0 05180d63000005dc 944 634x432 Extraordinary News of the Week (May 26 June 1)

I just couldn’t stay away!  Even though I made arrangements for someone else to post while I’m out of town…here I am, bringing you the Extraordinary News…cause I missed you!  In the coming days, you’ll likely see a couple of guest writers popping in, but don’t be worried…Natalina will be back before you know it!  Now, back to the news!

Often, my top news story is something fairly serious.  This week, I thought I would go in a different direction, and bring you the story of kitty cat in China with a strange condition.  Apparently, the fluffy cat was born completely normal, but then began to sprout these strange appendages that resemble wings!

Speculation about the condition has attributed the “wings” to a genetic mutation or even a possible Siamese Twin growing inside the kitty.  But, the little guy seems to have adapted well to the odd situation, and gets lots of attention from locals.  Read more here:    Don’t get in a flap, it’s just a cat with furry wings

From BBC News:  Jesus appears in Marmite.  Another day, another Jesus appearance in a snack food or condiment.  The whole “he works in mysterious ways” thing is becoming less and less accurate… My question is, what the heck is Marmite?  Someone help me out.  (Read more…

From Highland NewsNessie Caught on Sonar?Oh please, let it be true! I’ve been patiently waiting for news on our favorite lake monster, and finally we have this…some TV stars from some show I’ve never heard of, but which I’m sure is quite good, were on a pleasure cruise around Loch Ness when the captain recorded some of the most unusual sonar hits ever encountered, leading some to believe that they located Nessie! From Perth NowGigantic Feral Pig Caught.   A farmer in Australia confirms that a photo that emerged several years ago is authentic, and features a real monster pig, that was caught while eating a cow.  Bird eating spiders…cow eating swine….please give me a reason NOT to think that Australia is freakin’ scary!  (Read more…)

From Wthr.com:  Tapping your cellphone for fun and profit.  This article outlines just how easy it is for someone to hijack and tap your cell phone, and use it to harass you or use your identity and conversations for nefarious deeds.  Scary!  I’m pretty safe though. The majority of my conversations are, “So I bought a new kind of soap today..oh did you see that new movie about that guy with the thing and the other guy?…yes! I love potato boats!  With sour cream and chives??…I don’t know. What do YOU want to do…”  (Read more…)

From San Francisco ChronicleKid from the Bronx Speaks to Aliens.  An 11 year old won a contest to submit sounds to SETI to be beamed into space.  His submissions included thunder, lightening, the ocean, and rain.  Somehow these beat out my submissions of popping knuckles and chewing ice.  (Read more…)

From Fox News: Russian scientist has theory about Tunguska Meteor Site.  File this item under Reasons You Love This Blog.  “Dr. Yuri Labvin, president of the Tunguska Spatial Phenomenon Foundation, insists that an alien spacecraft sacrificed itself to prevent a gigantic meteor from slamming into the planet above Siberia on June 30, 1908.”  You so love this blog.  (Read more…)

The angel kitty is SO cute. I want one :)
Marmite is the English version of Vegemite, a black, thick, gooey substance you spread on toast. A very acquired taste unless you grew up with it. :p

    2. natalina says:

I want that kitty in my home at once, and I would name him Wingifred or Wingston or Wing Crosby.

So far, I’m not sold on Marmite or Vegemite. What does it taste like? Vegetables?

    3. Officegirl says:

I can’t say enough about that winged cat – the picture alone has brightened up my day.

    4. Bruno Dante says:

It’s that giant feral pig that’s giving me nightmares. Even Obelix would have trouble scoffing that!

    5. natalina says:

Is that an Asterix and Obelix reference, Bruno???

Btw, who knew that it would take a giant pig to scare you? Noted!

    6. Natalina says:

Officegirl, don’t you just wish you could have one of your very own?? Jeez, that little puddy cat is so precious, he’s like a little furry angel!

    7. tlcorbin says:

I’ve coveted that cat for some time now, but trying to remove him from his home town is likely to be more of a task than I can deal with. Sigh.

    8. natalina says:

Hey, I’ll distract the locals while you grab the kitty, deal?
