What's Your Sign? New Research Reveals Zodiac is Wrong

As a proud Sagittarian, I’ve always felt that my Zodiac sign was spot on with regard to my personality.  However, I’ve recently learned that my Birthday, December 17, falls on the cusp between Sagittarius, and something called Ophiuchus!  I’ll explain…

Apparently the above image is a thing of antiquity.

Make room for the 13th Sign!

According to TIME, astronomers from the Minnesota Planetarium Society found that because of the moon’s gravitational pull on Earth, the alignment of the stars was pushed by about a month.

This means, apparently, that everything you thought you knew about your Horoscope is likely wrong.

“Because of this change in the tilt, the Earth is over here and the sun is in a different constellation than it was 3,000 years ago when this study of the stars began,” Minnesota astronomer Parke Kunkle  told the Twin Cities’ KARE-TV. To account for this discrepancy, a new sign has been figured into the Zodiac.

Ophiuchus is the 13th sign, and actually, calling it new is misleading.  The sign Ophiuchus, the snake holder, has been in existence since ancient Babylon.  However, it was thrown out by the Babylonians for reasons of symmetry.

  1. this only applies too people born after 2009…luckly in still a cancer!!!!

  2. Well, I’m still a Centaur. Whew.

  3. After 2009? Bah! I’m a Capricorn and lazy and unsuccessful (although, I suppose I am a success in my indolence) and would love to be a Saggitarius. Things get worse looking at my Chinese horoscope, too.

  4. Precession of the axis has nothing to do with the moon’s gravitational pull. Natalina, please apply your ahem extraordinary intelligence to your articles…

    • Vanessa, first of all, as I’ve stated many times prior, the title of this website has to do with “outside of the ordinary information”… hence, Extraordinary Intelligence. It is not meant to be a commentary on my vast intellect. The “Intelligence” is referring to information as in “Intel”.. get it? Just a quick primer for those who’d like to think that I’m an egotistical brat. :)

That said, the information in this article was entirely supplied by the fine astronomers from the Minnesota Planetarium Society… their theory including that involving the moon creating a gravitational pull, can be found in this article from TIME online http://newsfeed.time.com/2011/01/13/horoscope-hang-up-earth-rotation-changes-zodiac-signs/?xid=rss-fullnation-yahoo

I’m just reporting their findings. If you have a quarrel with the science involved, please feel free to take your… ahem… thinly veiled sarcasm in their direction. Thanks!

  5. yeeeoooooow

  6. oh well! Hoe I’ll hate being saggi.

  7. Nothing changes the people born between those date mentioned just fall under the sign. When will people see the books are just records and not about the future and are just ways of understanding what has come and not what will be. You make your life and the stars play no roll in what you believe they just help in the movement of what most of us call god. That magic feeling. We all got it and it’s not from that book it from being your self and not trying to be what life tries to make in too.

Just believe it no need to give it a name or know how others reacted to it in the past.

  8. apparently my brother and I are Gemini’s now

I don’t think the world would be able to put up with 2 of each of either of us anyway, Lol
