Reports say that many people witnessed the bizarre spectacle in the sky, and there has been much debate as to the source of the lights.  News cameras were actually able to capture footage of the lights, and the article and video of what they saw follows:

Here is the news story about the sighting, featuring an interview with Coast to Coast Am host Ian Punnett, who is a native of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

An unidentified floating object in St. Paul part 1

August 10th, 2010: I was working on a project when my sister freakishly calls me to go out side to look. I didn’t see anything where I was but she insisted to come and pick me up to go and look. This is what we saw along with numerous neighbors. It just looks like some lights, but it was actually pretty creepy look. I don’t know if it’s some kind of crazy invention or an actual UFO, I guess we will have to see.

Strange Orange Light outside Our Bedroom Windows

I’ve always believed that there are other living things out there, but never really got into the talk of UFOs.

On August 17, 2010, my husband and I went to bed around 3:30 am to 4:00 am. After about 10 minutes into our sleep, I woke up as if someone had put a flash light on my eye. Our bedroom is usually dark with all the lights off, but windows are open and only some of the shutters are slightly open to let the cool air in. Every night, I can hear the crickets, wind, dogs barking, random cars passing by, etc.

When I opened my eyes, I had to refocus my vision. Our room was slowly being illuminated by a bright orange light. The light slowly moved from the west direction of our window (where the headboard of our bed was) to the east. I woke up my husband and asked him if he can see the light. He said yes, and we just watched the light coming from, now east to west. I kept on asking him, “What the heck is that? Can you see the light? At this point, our room is slowly getting darker the way it was. During this light show, the noise that we were used to is gone. It was dead silence. There wasn’t any noise coming from the outside, not even from whatever that light was. My husband and I froze as we were watching the orange bright light disappear.

I lay in bed thinking, was I just dreaming? Was my room slowly illuminated by a bright orange light? We did not talk about it anymore. We both went back to sleep. Around lunch time, my husband was asking me what I think of the lights early morning. I asked him if he actually saw the light, or was he just saying it so I can let him go back to sleep? He said, he actually saw the light. We talked about what we saw, and we were both thinking of reasonable explanation to what the light could’ve been. We don’t really have an explanation.

I just thought of researching about it, and I called our neighbor if she had seen something without telling her my story yet. She said she didn’t see anything, but she thought that it was weird, that she woke up around 3:30 am and couldn’t sleep. I went to GOOGLE, searching for “weird lights in the sky”, all the articles that came up were about the orange bright lights. Some people were describing exactly our experience.

      Strange and creepy!

I’m not sure if any one else has thought about this, but if any one knows Morse Code, I think it would be a good idea to see if maybe the lights make some kind of a message. I definitely saw some kind of a pattern with the blinking of the lights. Maybe the where spinning, or something like that, also maybe some one could see if there are any music notes that match. Just a thought.

Tonight September 11 2010 i was sitting on my porch when i looked into the sky and seen this orange thing floating above me high in the sky, as i looked at it , it almost looked like flames were in it, so i screamed for my husband who missed the end of it as it went soo far into the sky it dissappered, then 5 minutes later another came floating in the exact direction and was gone, creepy

I think that this is a sign of many things to come. I think that it is a distraction of sorts. When you think of all the movies and documentaries of the UFO stuff, it seems so strange how the media just blows it all off. Ok, so ask Dave Dahl what he thinks? And he is probably saying “please watch my weather report and let no aliens step on my toes.”
Honestly, I am surprised at how little attention has been paid to this. And it almost seems strange that in the home videos that were shot, that the people were not in “awe”. No one screaming that “this is the end” I was not there and did not see it so I cannot speak for others. So maybe it is some kind of cover-up? Then by God’s right, as American citizens, then demand more! Demand more than this web-page. Demand that it is your right, your civic duty, to know just what the heck those lights were. We all have that right. I am not trying to go all religious and stir things up, but do we not deserve the right to at least know? Tell you what! If I were on a plane with my family going on vacation and the plane were flying anywhere near those lights, well, shouldn’t this be a wakeup call? So it seems I used the word “heck” Gosh darn and shucks.
If anything, always remember that you, the people, are the government.

the night of october 8th 2010 my husband and i had stepped outside on our porch to have a smoke before watching a movie this was around 10pm im wichita kansas. and he looked in the sky and started freaking out telling me to look up, and when i did there was a glowing orange ball that took off across the sky. so we ran into the street (the neighbors were outside and seen it too). but we watched it for about a couple of mins and then it just dissapeared. couple night prior to that i had seen a bright white light in the sky do the exact same thing. and a few months ago he had stopped at some railroad tracks watching on a train and seen a series of for lights and one of the ones in the middle was zig zagging back and forth. i didnt believe him at first. but now i guess i have no other chioce!

eastern Canada \ western Newfoundland !
October 12th around 12pm had the same experience last night.
sky was full of normal stars. i closed my eyes to go to sleep, opened them a few minuted later to get up and had no choice but to notice the light in the sky amongst the other normal stars.
it faded out once after about a minute or two. i could still faintly see the object, then it came back to full light\brightness… moved downwards then faded out again and never returned . i waited for about an hour.
was seen south west of where i’m located in western nl.

My husband and I were driving northbound on 35W coming into Minneapolis last night (Dec 25, 2011) and saw about 7 stationary bright lights to the East as we passed through the Northfield area They didn’t move, and were very bright. They were too high in the sky to be a tower light, and didn’t have aviation lights so they were not planes. As we drove further north into Burnsville, we saw another single light, exactly the same, to the East. These were so noticeable that we couldn’t help but see them. I’m wondering if anyone else saw these lights last night.

    8. Morning Commuter says:

I was driving to work this morning and saw what I thought was a star off to the northeast above Minneapolis. I continued to drive and watched as that star faded out and another 2 – 3 appeared close to where the first was. I kept watching as more lights started to appear all over the northern sky about the same height as the first one, finally about 15 minutes later all the lights just seems to disappear. In total, about 7 lights I saw.
