“Cross over, children. All are welcome. All welcome, go into the light…there is peace and serenity in the light.” ~ Zelda Rubinstein as Tangina Barrons in Poltergeist
Actress Zelda Rubinstein, best known for her unforgettable role as psychic Tangina Barrons in the 1982 film Poltergeist, has passed away at the age of 76. Her agent, Eric Stevens, told reporters that Rubinstein died Wednesday at a Los Angeles hospital. He confirms that she had recently suffered a heart attack.
The diminutive woman with the unmistakable voice forever became a part of pop culture as Tangina… but she also starred in a variety of other films such as Sixteen Candles and recently in Southland Tales. I will personally always link her to the eerie voice over on the television show Scariest Places on Earth, which she narrated and was hosted by another horror movie icon, Linda Blair.
In a tribute to this special lady, I want to share the famous “Let’s Go get Your Daughter” scene from Poltergeist, as well as a clip from Scariest Places on Earth.
